'38 deluxe bumpers, arms, guards? Guys, I'd recently acquired a nice set of bumpers, guards and arms from a '38 deluxe Tudor.
Kinda confused as to what other models this stuff is correct for. It appears the bars are the same for '38 deluxe passenger cars and '39 standard passenger cars. It also appears the bumperettes are only for '38 deluxe and '39 standard. Is that correct? What about the arms? |
Re: '38 deluxe bumpers, arms, guards? '37 bumpers are flipped upside down for 38/39std. all the same bumper-just sold my last one. Don't know about the arms. Newc

Re: '38 deluxe bumpers, arms, guards? '37 guards are identical to '38s on the face, but due to the bumper being upside down, the concave inner pattern is different '37 to '38.

Re: '38 deluxe bumpers, arms, guards? I looked up the answer in Gary Mallast's book.
The front bumper bars are shared for all 1938 passenger cars and 1939 standard passenger cars The front bumper guards are shared for 1938 deluxe passenger cars and 1939 standard passenger cars. The standard passenger car bumper guards are different from the deluxe car versions. Gary's book isn't 100% clear, but it sounds like the tudor, fordor, and station wagon used the same rear bumper, with the bumper guards not being used on the station wagon. Gary's book does not clarify the interchangeability of the bumper arms. My 38-39-40 parts book does not clarify the 38 bumper interchangeability. I need to find a better parts book for 38 Fords. |
