Disc Wheels on Model A

1 Attachment(s)
I'm working on a speedster project and want to use disk wheels off a Chevy. I found the thread below but no one said they had done it. The stud circle is the same but Chevys have 6 studs rather than 5. It would be nice to buy Model A hubs and drums without the stud holes so I could drill my own. Does any one know who is making the new hubs and drums?

This is the look I'm after:

That's a nice original Mercury bodied model T - probably has 21" Baker disc wheels on it !

Yeah, I love the shape. The only disk wheels I've ever seen on Ts or As were either Chevy or Disteel (30"). Those bodies have also been put on an A chassis. My project is a composite - Model T Fronty engine connected to Model A drivetrain. Unfortunately, my Mercury body was very rough and missing most of the special Mercury parts. I would very much like to locate a windshield and step plates.

Re: Disc Wheels on Model A

Disk wheels were the "Mag" wheels of the period. I've seen lots of period ads and photos of them but few on cars today other than Chevy wheels. The maroon Mercury photo is obviously not period (color photo). I believe those are Chevy wheels since they have separate rims held on with four bolts.

Dodge Brothers disc wheels{Michelin} are fairly easy to find. Used from '22 to about '26. But they are heavy.

There were also aftermarket disc covers available back in the day. They fit over the spokes.

A possible answer for the original post is to contact Randy Gross at 714-292-8660 or email Randy at [email protected]. Randy makes the cast iron hubs. I’m sure he could do what you are asking for.

Grier, thanks for the information that addresses my original question. I'll give Randy a call.
