You can send them to us.
We can rebuild them with new ARP nuts and new wrist pin bushings and even weight match them if you want? https://www.jandm-machine.com/ |
Re: where to send rods to recondition My local machine shop does them, has done many sets for me. Schmidt Machine, Fairbury NE.

Re: where to send rods to recondition Hey J&M, how do you balance the big-ends? Where do you remove material from? Also, how do you install the pin bushings . . do you swage them in like Ford did?

Typical set of V8 rods are usually within 6 grams as long as they haven't been swapped out. Yes we have a tool prior to honing the wrist pin bushings that forces the bushing tightly against the rod prior to final honing. |
Re: where to send rods to recondition Well, FWIW I just inquired with J&M about the cost of reconditioning a set of 8ba rods and was told..... to buy some Scat rods. Oh well.

And here I thought that another valuable asset just came forward. Oh well. The guy at the local (Brainerd, MN) NAPA machine shop did mine for one hell of a lot less than that. "Shoebox", I see you live in rural Wisconsin; check and see if here is a shop near you that does tractors, etc. If a guy can do an 8N or 9N, a flathead would be a natural. |
Re: where to send rods to recondition Sorry, duplicate post.

We don't sell parts as you can get them from Speedway or Summitracing. |

Sounds like you have the correct "swaging" tool for the bushings - that is good to know. I made a fixture for my lathe to hold the cap - works great. Here are some pics: Attachment 563025 Attachment 563026 Attachment 563027 |
Re: where to send rods to recondition On my website I sell OBA-6211 rods with the hole for bearing which is different than the 8 BA6200 for with no hole. Exact replacement 50-53. They are $36.00 each plus postage
