You can send them to us.
We can rebuild them with new ARP nuts and new wrist pin bushings and even weight match them if you want?

My local machine shop does them, has done many sets for me. Schmidt Machine, Fairbury NE.

Hey J&M, how do you balance the big-ends? Where do you remove material from? Also, how do you install the pin bushings . . do you swage them in like Ford did?

We remove the material from the two ribs on the big end of connecting rod.
Typical set of V8 rods are usually within 6 grams as long as they haven't been swapped out.

Yes we have a tool prior to honing the wrist pin bushings that forces the bushing tightly against the rod prior to final honing.

Well, FWIW I just inquired with J&M about the cost of reconditioning a set of 8ba rods and was told..... to buy some Scat rods. Oh well.

Over $750 a set from Speedway. What do you want to bet J&M will also sell them to you; a lot more profit and less work than reconditioning, I'll bet.

And here I thought that another valuable asset just came forward. Oh well.

The guy at the local (Brainerd, MN) NAPA machine shop did mine for one hell of a lot less than that. "Shoebox", I see you live in rural Wisconsin; check and see if here is a shop near you that does tractors, etc. If a guy can do an 8N or 9N, a flathead would be a natural.

We would charge with the parts" ARP rod nuts/wrist pin bushings" would be $783 plus tax so in dollars and cents if you want price you can buy the scat rods before the tariff kicks in.

We don't sell parts as you can get them from Speedway or Summitracing.

You can buy the H-beams from CNC-Motorsports for about $650:

That was my guess. I don't prefer this method as it weakens the cap (in a non-stock build). The best method is to remove material from the sides of the caps (in a lathe) - the same way that Henry did it.

Sounds like you have the correct "swaging" tool for the bushings - that is good to know.

I made a fixture for my lathe to hold the cap - works great. Here are some pics:

On my website I sell OBA-6211 rods with the hole for bearing which is different than the 8 BA6200 for with no hole. Exact replacement 50-53. They are $36.00 each plus postage
