Boot for park brake lever 39 truck I need a boot for the park brake lever on my 39 truck to cover the slot in the floor where the handle sticks up. There is no screw holes so I assume it never had a boot. I have not found a part listing for it. Any suggestions on what boot will fit?

Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck I have used the boot supplied for the Model A Ford for other years and makes with success.

Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck 1 Attachment(s)
Trucks typically had a foam rubber piece around the base of the hand brake lever underneath the transmission cover to fill the gaps. Same with the transmission tower and clutch and brake pedal arms.
I don't have definitive information for 1939 trucks, but have what was installed for 1935 - 1937 trucks which likely is similar. The attached image shows the foam seal around the transmission tower and the one for the parking brake lever. This fit under the transmission cover. Over time the foam tended to disintegrate and "disappear" so the information I have comes from Ford Engineering drawings and some original parts. Hope this helps. |
Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck Thank you that helps a lot.

Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck The LOKAR shifter company also makes a nice e-brake boot with a stainless trim piece.

Action Yobbo - Trucks didn't have a boot, so it's up to you to decide.
If you can post or PM me pictures of your transmission cover, I can see if it's similar to the earlier versions. Attached is the transmission cover associated with the foam parts pictures. |

Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck ActionYobbo - If you PM me, I can send you dimensions for the foam parts and where to purchase the correct foam in the correct thickness.

Re: Boot for park brake lever 39 truck Will you please post that info here as I also have a 39 pickup. My fix was a piece of cardboard taped to the cover until I found something better. Your response is much better.
