Identify Jack

There is nothing cooler then old jacks! Is there someone who can help me identify the jack, so I can label it in my collection?

Re: Identify Jack

It is interesting, the jack moves up on the up stroke of the handle, instead of pushing down to move up.

But really, a friend has a vice with 2 screws drawing it tight. I forget the name, old and really cool.

I gave up all my "vices", but I do have several "vises" that function well.

Re: Identify Jack

I have one that's an 'Athol'. A 'vise'. I think we are talking about jacks here tonight. I'd like to have an old axe-handle Handyman for the foyota. Not that I need to jack anything up, it would just look cool hanging on the side of the bed. A guy needs to know how to 'accessorize'. Tom, did I spell that wrong too? :)

Re: Identify Jack

So, the 'athol' is a twin screw?

Re: Identify Jack

I'll get a picture in the morning. It was mounted on the bumper of my red tonner, but I removed it when I sold the truck. Thankfully I didn't lose my shirt or my athol in the sale. Skip, go to bed it's late in Kansas. I'm gonna get some pics of my old jack collection tomorrow too so we can get this thread back on topic....sheesh

I'm sorry nobody has been able to identify your reverse direction jack. I hope it's ok, some of us have been having fun with a little banter instead of helping with your research. Not a lot going on in the dead of winter and I for one, am easily amused. I have accumulated 3 old jacks that I think are from Ford trucks. I'd like to add them here in hopes that you or another member can identify. On your original jack, was it from a Ford vehicle?

The jack looks to be the same as early fords and with the wide hook would guess 41 and later Ford ,Lincoln or Mercury. Tim

The author used to be at the Chickasha Ok. pre war swap meet every year selling books.

IIRC he has a couple editions. Perhaps ebay?
