$5 a day

On this day 101 years ago, Henry Ford’s 5 Dollar day went into effect. Most people think all his workers got that raise, but no, it was not to give workers more money, it was about Ford’s desire to control lives and gain publicity. He had a team of inspectors invade households to investigate lifestyles, and even to the extremes of how a worker’s wife kept house. Conform to Henry’s code of conduct or lose out on the famous &5 day.
