Headers for a 36 sedan....

I have a 36 sedan
With a 37 flathead

Thanks guys

I put a set of (real) Fenton cast iron headers in a '36 coupe with a '37 steering box if that helps. In the end, you can; it just depends on how resourceful you are. You may need to do a little grinding. I have also heard of guys having the mounting flanges milled at an angle for clearance.

Milling the angle is an idea I've not heard of. its a give and take as if you gain clearance for the steering box, you lose on the dipstick. My 34, yes, different frame etc, fentons clear the box by an 1/8", but crash into the dipstick tube.

The tube and stick need some drastic bends that the fat Ford dipstick would not like going around corners. My remedy for that was to make a new tube from brake line, and use a modern wimpy dipstick with the Ford handle brased on top to fool all you guys.

Put 5 quarts of oil in and punch mark the new full level.

I also have a set of Fenton's on my '51 (although they're not supposed to fit "shoeboxes"). The problem with that was not the steering box, but snaking around the clutch linkage.

Red’s Headers also may have a solution for your application.

I had Reds Headers on a 59A in a 36 coupe a few yrs back.I had replaced the steering box with a 37 unit. The headers hit the steering box.I had to put a dimple on the header and still was tight.

If you have a stock engine, headers dont do much, a stock cast iron manifold will work well,a LOT cheaper and it fits. But you cant brag about spending a couple of hundred bucks for your headers.
