Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub I got anxiety just watching the video. I couldn't imagine having to deal with all that stuff.
If the guy on the video bought it and is taking it all, I'd have to assume it was for pennies on the dollar. The time and man power alone to move all that stuff is quite something. |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub looks like a nightmare in heaven..or a sweet dream in hell

Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub Just think, there are probably 100's more hoarding situations like that across the country.
A nightmare for the surviving family to deal with. |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub Makes one wonder how much of that stuff will go to the scrap yard. Probably a lot of it.

Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub WOWSER! I couldn’t deal with all that, I’d be more than overwhelmed. How do you sort through all that and separated the good from the dumpster/crusher? Where and how does the good stuff go? Health hazards, hazardous material's, I’m overwhelmed already?

That is a fantastic score I have been to a couple of estate sales. I feel bad for the person who had gathered up all the stuff and stored it away. I always only buy what I have use for and leave the rest for the next guy and not be a hoarder myself nor a flipper at the cost to the seller Vic |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub When I was putting the 49 together we dealt with 2 "hoarders." Both certifiable nut cases. Deal with them or drive to overpriced Seattle. Finally found some decent folks in southern Oregon and east of the mountains. As far as the hoarders, they sat on that stuff until they died. Both families hired auctioneers and the majority of it went to the scrappers. The families were just as bad as the owners.
An example; pretty decent 49 Olds convertible with power/hydraulic windows and real air conditioning. I tried for years to buy that car. Somebody pulled the chrome/stainless and the car went to scrap. What a shame, I had no idea there was such a car pre-1950s. I've never seen one since. |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub WOW. next to our booth at Hershy for years was Dale from Idaho.
He had a four-wheel trailer full of auto stuff and his cot. he worked the show circuit for 4 months. Hershey was the last in the circuit. He owned a junkyard back home. What hurt him was the cost of logistics: Fuel repairs, parking, spirit. loneliness when things were, good he made a decent cut. Then can Ebay. The cost of coming to the big show to buy, increases the cost you pay for the rare piece you need. When I was heavy working in Standard gauge trains, I loved the ebayer who dumped a box full on trains for safe. Clean straighten and fix the pile and tribble my $$,, I had Ted Maurer's auction frequently an always had debris for him to auction. I always grabbed the bottom of his auctions. Like many of us, we had customers for certain pieces. I was employed for some of these many years and used my knowledge to assist Greenberg in his train writings. |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub Whats interesting to me here is, this was not out of sight on some ranch with a 10 mile driveway, it is in the middle of a town. All my life, when I travel I never take the freeway, I travel the old roads and snoop around the little towns looking for that guy. I've found a few and have developed a theory that when you see a stash like this in plain sight...there's a reason its still there and don't think for a second you have discovered an unknown stash.
The reason its still there is 1, the guy thinks he is going to restore all 150 cars "someday". 2 its all priced so high nobody will pay. 3 everything is just plain not for sale. I've seen many. The result is usually what we see here, the guy died before anything happened. I'd like to know how this buyer got the info since he is not a local, and why give him the opportunity to cherry pick the first loads which will make an auction, if there is one, not mentioned, less successful as all sweet stuff is gone. |
Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub Get the wrecker going and you could tow the rest out.

Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub I have known folks just like this and all I can say is the realy nice stuff will stay in the famly, the nice stuff will be saved via the auction and the savable stuff will more then likely get trashed with the junk. Re: Colorado Estate Sale - 4 Houses Of Parts & Cars Galore - Video Just Posted YouTub I agree with Skip. Take the slow roads and look around. When my wife and I are driving, I’ll always say….”look at the old truck or car out behind that garage”…or….”I wonder what that vehicle is under that tarp out there”…and she says..”watch the road, you got enough stuff!”…….if I can get her to watch this video, maybe I can prove I don’t have a problem!….
I was happy the guy got the Hires Root Beer clock ….LOL……..Mark |
