51 Custom, Carburetor ID help please

Hi all

Not new to old cars (rusty Mustangs and 911s), but newish to 50s Ford . I have my dad's 51 Custom Tudor with 8BA Flathead/automatic. Pretty stock car.

It's taken me the 2 years since he passed to decide to do more than drive it around the block once in a while, so sorry about the lame questions to come.

Car runs and drives OK, but carb is wet all the time so a rebuild is needed. I think it's the stock (maybe original) carb . The pass side has Ford script, the drivers side of the bowl is blank. Searching around it looks like there should be "8BA" on this side? So not sure if the carb kits are all the same or if I need additional information to get the right one.

Thanks for the help

CharlieNY X2 to the 10th power

Box it up and send it to Charlie Schwindler
5845 Cole Road
Orchard Park NY 14127

It will be a plug and play carburetor when you get it back. I always send a a signed blank check along with mine and Charlie lets me know how much when he'd finished and its on the way back to me (its easy and saves time)!!!!! You will be thrilled with the results 100%

Best for you to know what is the proper Carb. for the engine and transmission. Not sure if there is special linkage for the transmission. The best rebuilding kits come from Daytona parts in Fla. Charlie does do fine rebuilds but it is best to give him the proper Carb.

If it's stock, it should be a Holley 94. Isn't the fun of the old car hobby about fixing it yourself? If the screw heads aren't buggered up, indicating many take aparts, it should be easy to rebuild. I did mine last June and it runs great. The tube going to the distributor is for the vacuum advance, careful not to strip the threads. The body is soft metal, so those threads can strip easily also. Good luck and have fun.
Edit: If you don't have one, you need the 49-51 shop manual, (green bible) available as a reprint.
