Caution using a non stock radiator. The radiator is a key to locate and secure the whole front end of a 36.

Re: 36 radiator info wanted

I had bad luck having my 36’s radiator repaired. I took it to 2 different radiator shops in the San Diego area. If the radiator is not assembled with the correct geometry, the hood and side panels will not fit correctly. That is what happened to my radiator. After a half dozen trips to radiator shops I ended up buying a new radiator from Brassworks. It wasn’t inexpensive and I had to wait 6 months for it to be delivered, but it dropped right in, fit perfectly and it has a 4lb cap. It is a really nice radiator, I recommend their work.

I had good luck with these folks. They made a radiator for my 1935 Fordor with 85HP Flathead. It is a 7 PSI unit and I have used it now all throughout the past summer. It took about a month to get mine once ordered. They have many options you can choose from from all aluminum to other. Take care!

Another option if you decide on the aluminum route is the Radiator Lady located near Temecula, CA I've heard positive reviews but I don't have any first hand experience.

Regarding Aluminum Radiators: I recommend searching for performance data on brass/copper vs aluminum radiators. I previously found a trust worthy test report that indicated they both perform (cool) at about the same efficiency. More important to me, its much easier to repair a copper radiator than aluminum.
