Re: part number for 1950 exhaust headers

What are you looking for? Ford made a driver side manifold for police use that provided for a dual exhaust. They weren't really headers just one specialized manifold. I don't know the part number, but that's not a problem because they are no longer available. I think someone re-popped them (possibly Carpenter?), but I don't think they make them any more either. Speedway Motors list several varieties, from basic tubing kits up to the classic Fenton cast iron units. They say the Fenton's don't fit "shoebox" Fords, but I have had a set on my '51 club coupe since 1987 and have been very satisfied with them.

Denny I have a pair of vintage Fentons for my current '51 and had some on my previous '51. It's the current chinese Speedway offerings that don't fit. Catalog even states "not ideal for 49-51 with stock steering".

That's what I get for believing Speedway's ads. They say they are genuine Fenton's. I'll bet you can make 'em fit though.

I really believe in them; I installed them in 1987, and when I changed engines in 2016, I inspected the entire exhaust system thoroughly and everything was in excellent shape. I got the car out for the first time this year today, and everything seems fine (with the car, I don't know about me). My bad ankle doesn't bend enough any more and I ground the gears the first time I went into second.

Drake made the 'police' manifolds for 49-51 and the 52-53s short run tho. Newc

The '49-'51 Ford chassis parts catalogue shows part numbers 8BA-9430 for RH, and 8BA-9431 for LH '49-'51 8 cyl. exhaust manifolds.

The correct part number for the 52-53 "Police Interceptor" LH exhaust manifold is EAB-9431-A.

Yeah, I thought I was gonna be in heaven with one on my '38 with a 59L block. Wrong. Turns out the muffler pipe has to do a loop de loop just to get out of the engine bay.
