I'm not 100% certain but do believe the wheels were dipped painted. Dave? What say you?

The black ones were dipped, but like yourself, Mike, I am not certain about the colored wheels as I have seen originals with color over black.

My curiosity . . . why wouldn't Ford use a primer, particularly on wheels which receive nature's vengeance directly off the road surface.
I see one slight coat of Tacoma Cream-on-steel; i.e., asking for rust, and negative customer feedback with compensation.

Surely, this isn't an owner's repaint job; an owner would respray over the Ford color coat.

Thank You !

Ford was in the business of making a profit while building reasonably priced vehicles. Primer application costs money. And truly, the paint on the rims held up rather well without primer.

Yes, the paint 'held up' extraordinarily.(I once stripped a Model A with a Red Devil scraper; the paint chipped off as if it was an 'eggshell'. Gleaming metal. No 'evidence' of primer.

THANK YOU!
