Model a Ford Transmission

I put a transmission in my 1931 Ford Pickup figuring it would be more quite. The gears looked good also. When I took it for a drive it locked in high gear. I figure it to be in the shifter top. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I would first pull the top. Maybe you didn't get the shift forks line up in the gears correctly.

Ditto Master Cylinder. You may not have rebuilt the "ball" which moves in the two inward facing slots in the shifter fork sliders. Or the ball and slots are both worn.

Or it may not have been "synchronized" going together - and now you're "dead ended" with no where for the shifter arm ball to go next.

Pulling the top will reveal all.

MANY recommend rebuilding the ball as a routine repair in transmission overhaul - it's probably a good thing to do. But I think in 40 years I've had ONE non-rebuilt ball that continually got hung up by slipping out of the grooves.
