"early" '32 rear end rebuilders? Does anyone know of a person or place, within a couple hundred or so mile radius, (easy driving distance for a tired old fart) of north central WV that can rebuild, (change gear set, bearings and seals, anything else wore out, gear back lash, bearing preload, etc), on a early production (round flange) '32 rear end? Please. Thanks
There are posts on here that say the 'round flange' banjo '32 rear is the same as the '31 Model A rear. I have contacted a couple of Model A clubs up in Pittsburgh Pa. They are somewhat relunctant to help, or add another thousand dollars to the rebuild cost, because, "it's a '32" I don't have the tools to do the pre load/backlash, nor have I ever dissambled a banjo rear end. 'fraid I'd take it apart and forget how to put it back together correctly. |
Re: "early" '32 rear end rebuilders? Michael Driskell at Third Gen could do it. I'm not sure how far behind he is though.

Re: "early" '32 rear end rebuilders? Michael as stated or possibly Ken Harris in Alabama.

Re: "early" '32 rear end rebuilders? Charlie Schwendler in NY can do it. I'll PM his cell phone number to you.

Maybe check with Ben Haag @ Bluefield Vintage in Mooresville, NC he does a lot of axles.
Don't always have to drive everywhere; parts can be shipped. Maybe reconsider building it yourself; these rears are not overly complicated and information is readily available. |
