34vs48

just for speculation if a new 34 ford and a new 48 ford competed against each other in a 1/4 mile drag race which one would win?

Just a guess here BUT I would bet the 34 based on rear gearing. I know the 34 would "most likely" be 4:11, wouldn't the 48 be something high geared??

Correct, the 48 would most likely be 378's. The 34 is gonna be lighter, but the newer motor has a little more HP. My guess is the winner would be the guy willing to abuse his tranny with great speed shifting skills!

Would think the floor shift would ALSO have the advantage over the column shift in your scenario.

If Clyde Barlow was driving it, I'd take the '34.
