1941 PickUp Cab Heater I just put a note in the Wanted section for a 1941 PickUp Cab Heater.
If anybody has one, or the necessary parts to re-manufacture one, I'd appreciate it. Also anything for the defrosters. I'm looking in the "bay", but all I find are either 1941 Car heaters, or 1939-40 and 1942 to ??. Nothing in the 41 PickUp. Thanks Mike |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater My 40/41 big truck came with a 'car' heater. Looks factory. Newc

Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater What would a pick up heater look like?
Certainly, the 48-52 vintage had fresh air styles. Not sure what is period correct for pre-war. |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater Starting in '39 I believe both hot air and hot water were available.
We might have a hot air setup. There should be something like a knockout visible from the engine compartment at the top middle of the firewall where the register mounts. PM me if you are interested and we can look at our stock. If you are interested in hot water I can point you to Larry who deals in those. -Scott |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater The truck heaters were different than the passenger cars. Many, perhaps most, do not realize this.
The truck heaters have the water nipples located differently than the passenger cars and have a drain valve, unlike the passenger cars. They (truck heaters) are scarce. I am quite certain hot air heaters were NOT offered for the trucks. |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater Kube: When you say "water nipples" are you referring to the water inlet and outlet tubes? I assume you are and what is the difference.
1939mars: I'm not sure who "Larry" is. Could you give me more information Mike |

Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater Kube: Can you send me a photo of the difference?
If not, can you explain what the difference is? I've seen heaters with the water nipples on the opposite side of the core and diagonal in the height. I've also seen them right next to each other and on the same side of the core. Thanks Mike |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater I have a Southwind Gas heater in my PU. I love it. I have an extra one as well if interested.

Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater If the intent is to build a concourse correct vehicle then you are stuck trying to find a factory correct heater as described by Kube. However, for all practical purposes a car heater would do the job, most people would never know the difference.
My 36 Ford had a '39-40 heater in it when I bought the car in 1952. In the 71 years that I have owned the car, nobody has ever mentioned that the heater is not correct for the car. |

This is backside vue of a 1940 truck heater. He has a 1941 truck which uses a much different shaped heater and mounting layout for the holes in firewall. 40larry |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater I have no holes in the firewall. Either the truck never had a heater, or, the firewall was replaced in a restoration process before I purchased it.
40larry: Are you possibly Larry Caplan? Mike |
Re: 1941 PickUp Cab Heater Mike: I have a heater for sale that I just removed from my 41 Pickup. Fan works when I connected to battery and there were no detectable leaks when I removed it. Will gladly send you pictures as well as answer and questions you may have. Please advise me of your contact info.
Thanks |
