Several years ago my wife and I traveled to the Ohio-Kentucky border to haul this car home. It had been stored in a barn for many years, but needed restoration, partially to repair a few modifications made in the trunk area. The modifications allowed a large whiskey tank to fit in the rumble area. These modifications included the removal of the inner trunk lid, removal of part of the trunk floor and an outlet pipe under the rear fender. The car is now back to original with a few changes to improve handling and safety.

The roadster now has hydraulic brakes (1940 Ford style), and a 1939 Ford steering box. The newer steering box, while looking completely stock, greatly improves the handling and ease of steering. The steering, along with a new, slightly lower, front spring (with Teflon sliders) and new style gas shocks all around, make the car very pleasurable to drive.

The engine is a freshly rebuilt 1936 LB block Ford V-8 Flathead, original to the car. Besides being redone, the engine supports a new Stromberg 97 carburetor (from Speedway), a new electronic distributor, and a new dual exhaust system from Red’s Headers. The dual exhaust system consists of ceramic coated headers, Smithy mufflers and twin aluminized tailpipes with stainless extensions.

The electrical system has been modernized to 12 volt and includes a 12 circuit fuse block with an alternator, oil resistant wiring, turn signals with hazard lights, halogen headlights and dual electric fans.

The interior, rumble seat, and convertible top are from LeBarron-Bonney including leather covered front seats. The exterior is painted Ford Bright Orange, the color used as pin striping on the 2000 Ford 150 with Harley Davidson trim. The base coat-clear coat finish was color sanded and buffed to a beautiful gloss.

The car has zero miles on the restoration. It has only been driven in the driveway for a systems check. I have just installed new radial tires so the old whitewalls in the pictures are gone The car needs a windshield wiper motor. I have been restoring Fords for over fifty years and I am offering this car for $45,000. While the cash price is firm, I would certainly consider a cash-trade offer including an early Ford project. Please contact Neil (Psych) at [email protected] or via PM with questions ,offers or requests for additional pictures. A true piece of American rum-running history awaits your consideration.

Thanks for the responses and offers. I'm really looking for a project or builder as a partial trade and not a completed car. Attached are a few more pictures.

I have just installed new radial tires, so the whitewalls in the pictures are gone. Price reduced to $45,000. A nice Christmas gift for dad.

Decided to repost this ad. Have used the car very little in the last couple of years. The grandkids love it, but I have a lot of projects. $42,500.
