1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Hi everyone, I recently inherited a 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe and we are currently trying to get it running. Apart from that, we’re playing around with the interior and trying to get things to work.. so does anyone know how to operate the clock of that year make and model? I’m assuming it has something to do with the dial thing on the front but I don’t know.
thanks, mr_charles |
Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Its it electric or wind up ? Williamsons in AR has posted his work on Instagram and looks great.

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Wind up as far as I know, the only cable to the cabin is for the light.

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Nice! Anyone know how to wind them up?

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock turn stem clockwise to wind.

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock ok thanks. last time I tried to turn it clockwise though, it would move a few centimeters then stop. anyone know how to fix that? or should I maybe just put more force into it? (i just don’t want to break it ;)

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock First of all, DO NOT FORCE IT.
If not damaged, these clocks can respond well to a good professional cleaning. The clock on my '51 was locked up solid. I took it to the local clock repairman to get it fixed. When I went to pick it up, he said a good cleaning and lubrication was all it needed. The total bill? $20.00.:) Mine was an electric clock, but back in the era, all of the clocks were wind-up; it's just that some of them had an electric winder. BTW, it's still running fine. I have to set it about twice a year to keep it on the precise time. I've fiddled with the "F---S" adjustment a couple of times, and figure that's about as close as it gets. I have a thing about clocks in cars; if there is one, it has to run and keep proper time. |
Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Your clock may be full wound. If not running it is time to see the clock repair person. Pull the knob out slightly and you should be able to set the time.

Re: 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe Clock Alright then, I guess I should just take it to a clock repair man. Thank you everyone for your responses! I appreciate it! :)
