Where to buy aftermarket 226 radiator

Hi Guys, I've been away awhile just finally was able to get some time to work on my 48 F1 again, Got it running last weekend for the first time in about 2 and half years. How ever come to find out my Radiator is total toast. Called local rad shop for recore they told me 950-1100.00.

Just was wondering if anyone knows of any aftermarket ones that would work ?. Just until I'm able to get my original one fixed. I was thinking aluminum one. I see that top inlet tub is on the right side. Could I use a off set 48-50 Ford car thermostat housing from 226 and pair with new aluminum rad ?. I've kind lost with what I can do.

I do truly appreciate any type of input.

Cheers

Cody

Sorry Cody, just saw this. I used an aluminum radiator in my '47 with '51 H six. It was designed for the folks who put a small block chev V8 in a flathead ford car/truck. All mounting is set up for our trucks and a little creativity in hoses might be needed, but worked perfectly in mine as well as my other 6 cyl tonner with the diesel engine. 3 years ago they were under 200 bucks with free shipping.. One I painted satin black and it blended right in.

Look at lmctruck.com for a replacement radiator. While it may be mostly aluminum currently, the fit and pricing are better than others.

On my 42 coupe the cost to recore the radiator was $375. Tanks were in decent shape. My brothers 57 Chevy was $400 as the tanks were needed work. Maybe a second opinion on a recore?

1942deluxe, I wish I knew where you had that done as I just had my 41 pickup record and yes I took it out and laid it on their counter and picked it up when it was done, for $1400 Tim

pistonbroke, small one man shop in Bushnell, Ohio. Chief's radiator repair. Is your 41 a split core radiator? That may have been some of the expense.
