Tranny cooling line issue

So I ordered tranny cooling lines and they fit great except for one small issue. How do I fix this? I guess it is better to be too long than short. I was thinking of cutting the flare off and adding a 90* elbow to go into the tranny and then reflare the tubing. Will that work?

Yes, you can shorten that and reflare. You may have to rent a double flare tool from one of the parts houses, but if you get it back soon, they will usually give your check back to you.

You might see if they’ve got a small “plier style” bender for rent too. From the looks it’ll be flare first, then bend. Hard to tell from a picture.

It might be the picture but, it doesn't look like you have much distance to cover there. The trans lines are long and can easily be bent somewhere near the middle to compensate for that distance so the line will insert and the fitting can be screwed in. If you ordered the correct lines for your car, they should fit with a bit of manipulation.
In my '54, 5.0/AOD I used the factory Mustang lines and had to tweak them a bit cuz the radiator was moved forward a few inches. Just be careful when manipulating the lines.

A person can bend a joggle into a long straight section and take up a good bit of length. When it's close, the fitting end may just need a small amount of tweeking to get it to align and screw on. I've had a double flare set for years. The set used to be affordable but I haven't had a need to check for many years so I don't know what they cost now.
