"NEW" in the garage,Laboratory Test Set

Got this about six weeks ago in South East Iowa. Accidentally came across the listing on C-List 23 minutes after it was listed. Called right away and after a few days made the deal. Earlier Model using a six volt battery to operate, Newspaper in the battery area dates to 1959! Looks like it was used quite a bit over the years and has wear one would expect for something this old. Will be using this as a conversation piece in the basement rec room, no plans to restore or even attempt to use! When bringing it home in an enclosed trailer laying on it's back many screws, washers and extras migrated into neat piles in the trailer!

Love it ! Nice find . I rediscovered an old Heath oscilloscope and a champion scope . Both work . It would be interesting if that could be put back in service, at least partially.

Nice find, Gary. A lot better than the ones I had. They came with an instruction book but a lot of the directions can be found in the Service Manual reprint books.

Kind of reminds me of a vacuum tube tester that was at a now defunct local chain drug store.

No instruction book but in a tray on the right side there are dozens of cards for the test procedures. Older ones have a 1935 Copyright, ones in the back half are dated 1939. As far as radio vacuum tubes, yes it did test those also, which explains the similar appearance.

There was a non-Ford instruction book for the Heyer Test set. Very informative with step by step instructions.

You know, in all the time I spent reading the comic books at our local pharmacy back then, I do not remember seeing anyone testing their tubes in that tester.

If you are planning to restore nd use your test set, I would recommend looking for the strobescope attachment that allows you to set up your distributors off the engine.
