Bitter Cold 1 Attachment(s)
The weather man is predicting 11 degrees here in central Alabama by morning. That’s unheard of here. It gets cold but not that cold. Been scrambling to make room to get both my 40s inside my crowded shop. My third one occupies the garage at the house.

Re: Bitter Cold I'd settle for 11 degrees. We haven't been above 0 (zero) for two days. Right now (10:45 pm central time) it is -10 (minus 10).
And there is a wind of 25 mph outside -- that makes it about -32 degrees. Thats when parts of your anatomy freeze in less than 15 minutes. |
Re: Bitter Cold Yup, it is about -14 below on my thermometer, and we are
expecting 35mph winds with gusts up to 45mph tomorrow. It's just Great weather,,,if you are a Polar Bear. . |
Re: Bitter Cold Heat wave here, got up to -6 today. 80 in the shop, burning my stash of 2 year old dry white oak
|
Re: Bitter Cold Right now it's 12:30AM and 4 above zero in Fort Smith, AR the closest town to me. When it reaches 19 as they predict for Friday, maybe I can turn the heat down a little.

While your (our) buddy/neighbor "tubman" kind of giggles at the rest of us from down there near Cuba. Looks like they're gonna be DOWN IN THE 50s with highs in the 60s this next few days. Coop . |
Re: Bitter Cold Coopman'
"Your Buddy" just a little to the North of Tubman here in Florida is gonna be in the low to mid "20's" for the next few days!!!!! We will certainly find out where the long johns end!!! Gotta shut the water to my shop off today and drain my toilet, it are gonna be "COLD" |
Re: Bitter Cold I live on the Space Coast in Fl. Going down to mid 20's to low 30's here. Have to put my shorts away and get my long pants out.

Re: Bitter Cold with wind factor going down to -20, high of 5. WPA

Re: Bitter Cold It was in the high 40's near Augusta, Georgia this morning when I awakened. The power went off around 0645 and the temperature has dropped to a bit below freezing. The high temperature for the next couple of days will be below freezing with temperatures heading down to 12 degrees. The wind has been somewhat higher than the official forecast predicted and there are lots of branches and trees down. In this part of the country, temperatures as low as 12 degrees are rare. We are going to have a lot of people with broken pipes since many of the homes have the plumbing in exterior walls. There are numerous homes over a century old that have no wall insulation.

Re: Bitter Cold Good reason to keep antifreeze in at least to 35-. I would think much lower in the north.

Ugh! What a nightmare for all the people in the south. I'm going to quit griping about the cold up here. |
Re: Bitter Cold In Tennessee back in the day, when the seasons changed Pappy would make his special batch. Drained the water out and filled the radiator with moonshine. The car seemed happier but did wander the road at times.

Re: Bitter Cold We had -66 Fahrenheit here in Alaska on Wednesday. Now that is a bit early for this neck of the woods.

Re: Bitter Cold 3 degrees here this morning. My poor dog....when he went out to pee he got stuck to the ground and I had to go break him loose....

Careful with the Colemans... we do not want to lose anyone to CO poisoning. Another hint, if it gets too cold to sleep, try setting up a tent on the bed. |
Re: Bitter Cold The most miserable cold I ever experienced was on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi while stationed at Kessler Air Force Base. It wasn't that cold by North Dakota standards at only 35 degrees, but because of the humidity, it was difficult to get warm due to slightly damp clothing. Everything was damp! It seemed you couldn't get away from the cold...
