What thread for wind wing mounting?

Does anyone know the thread size of the wind wing/wiper stanchion line mount holes on the back of the '30 deluxe open car stanchions (probably reproduction stanchions in my case)? I can't seem to find bolts to fit them. 5/16 is too small. 3/8 is too large. Could they be metric? Fine thread? Any info would be helpful.

Here is a chart with the US and Metric sizes - you could need an M8.
The M8 has 1.25 thread pitch which is 20 per inch.

That's it! I guess they don't have English thread taps in China.

I just bought some the other day at the Do It Center here in town. They had a couple of different kinds.
