Re: 40 valve removal

kurt, you may want to consider using the later style one piece valve guide assemblies.
I am pretty sure it can be done.
Peruse this:

Re: 40 valve removal

Cutting the valves should be a last resort.

First you need to move the valve guides down.

Once moved you can take the horseshoe clip out and remove the whole valve assembly upwards.

Intake guides can sometimes be moved with a tire iron down the intake port.

It is normally a waste of time trying to use the valve pickle fork tool to pull the guide down. Unless they have not been in place for a long time, in which case the fork might work.

You can use a valve spring compressor to pull the spring up and you can wiggle the keeper out.

You can then hook the spring out.

You can then use an "onion" tool to knock the guide down and remove the clip.
Then pull the whole shebang up and out.

Lots of ways to get this job done and cutting them is not one I would choose.

I have showed many of the methods I describe in my videos.

Mart.
