Head interface dimensions?

I don't have a Model A engine to play with but I'm curious about the interface between the head and the block. What are the dimensions for:
Head bolt locations (from cylinder #1)and size?
Cylinder spacing?
Valve locations (from cylinder #1)?
Water passages?
Thanks for any help here!

I have the prints for those however you are asking for WAY too much (detailed) information that would take forever to explain. You really need to reach out to the Benson Ford Research Center and order the factory prints ( -# A-6005, A-6010, and A-6010 ) to get that information where you can continually refer back to these dimensions.

Re: Head interface dimensions?

I've not seen a blueprint of the model A standard head but this link has photos.

This link has stud sizes and some good photos of the top of the block with studs installed.

A head gasket will give stud spread locations and this link from The Henry Ford should give the valve dimensions center to center in the block.

Re: Head interface dimensions?

Thanks both for the information. Really, I was just wondering why no-one seems to have come up with an ARDUN or SOHC 8 port cross flow head for the A now that the Burtz construction is available. Terry mentioned some horse power figures that the new design should be capable of handling but I just don't see it coming from the current OHV designs out there. I have to order some parts for my hot rod project and I think I'll add a head gasket to the order.

PS: Brent- do you have a slightly higher resolution of the head drawing? Thanks again!

Re: Head interface dimensions?

The OHC set up would require a cam drive that is reliable. Most folks are looking for nostalgic reasons so they get the OHV copies of the pre-war years.

There may be a a file at The Henry Ford site for a model A cylinder hard. There are a lot of viewable drawings on there.
