Plating parts I suspect I know the answer to this, but when having parts plated, like door handles, do the platers need to have the parts taken apart into the individual components or can they be left assembled? For example, can the escutcheon and trim pieces be left on, or must they be completely disassembled?

Re: Plating parts If you want the best results, disassembly will always be to your benefit. Also, never send the plater a component that is not to be plated. You'll never see it again. So disassemble.

Re: Plating parts Thanks Russ, that's what I thought.

Re: Plating parts Another suggestion is to show the platers what you want plated, provide him with a list of the parts you just showed him along with photos, and have him sign the parts list as having received all the parts to be plated. At least you have proof of what you left him. This is especially important if you're having hard-to-find parts redone.

Re: Plating parts Find Craig Riker and give him your plating needs. Craig has been doing show quality plating of Model A parts for many tears. Perhaps somebody on this board has Craig's contact info.
