It's not a 'bolt-in', but it certainly can be made to fit. This is a very popular swap which produces wonderful results. Either the '36 or the '40 deag link will work as both are dimensionally the same thing. The tapered holes for the ends are all tapered at 7º, so that is all the same, also.

1935 thru 1940 chassis are essentially the same animal with only minor details being different from year to year. The area on the frame rail where the steering box is mounted is the same on both years, but each frame has a different steering box mount riveted into the frame. Some folks will tell you that you can re-drill the '36 mount for the '40 box. I say phooey! Do like most folks do and find a '37-'40 frame mount and swap it in where the '36 mount is. These mounts show-up frequently on eBay and in our own "For Sale" section.

Below is the difference between the two brackets, the clean one being the '40.

BELOW is the difference between steering boxes, although the big box below is '37-'39 because of the pieces at bottom for the light switch. If you still need to retain that light switch function for your '36, you'll need a '37-'39 box, or the pieces to adapt your '40 box. DD

I did that conversion in my previous '35 and '36 Fords.I used the '37 pitman arm.

Of course, Sheldon (deuce lover) is correct. The Pitman arm you want to use is shown BELOW (the big one), and will have the number "78-3590" forged into it. That is a 1937-1940 (& '41 PICK-UP) Pitman arm. DD
