1939 Mercury Heater Question
 

I am looking at a 1939 Mercury but the car is not equipped with a heater. As we typically do most of our touring in the spring and fall, I’d like to have one installed. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the best heater option for a stock, correctly restored car? Also, any leads would be greatly appreciated; looking for a complete assembly.

Welcome to the barn-- original heaters [H20] are around- in fact the '39 had a drain in the bottom. Our local 39-40 source in Oregon is 503-349-2012 and the h20 valve in the head is special. Newc

To minimize the guessing at abbreviations and colloquialisms, the 39 Mercury uses the same heater as the 39 Ford. They're around, but not cheap.

Might also want to check out Southwind gas fueled heaters. Had one in a 41 Chevy in high school, loved it! Instant heat.

Do you think it would just be best to advertise in the wanted section? I’m not as concerned about the cost; I just want it right.

I thought the difference was the toe guard and the commercial heaters had the drain.

Toe guards different in 39-40, door handles different and if I am not mistaken, there is some slight difference in the doors themselves because of the floor shift in the 39.
