59AB early cam ideas Barn inhabitants:
First: Need to find the "cam button" so I can run a helmet distributor. It currently has crab. I do have the right timing cover, but need the spacer. I cannot locate it anywhere online. Second: Need a cam recommendation. Has NOS offy heads and intake. Looking for a "mild" option, something available new. There's a ton of cool old grinds but I don't think I'd be able to find one. Car is a stock 41 Convertible, just looking for a little extra to take advantage of the parts that came with it. While I love the L100 etc, I need something between that and stock. Any of the Schneider cams decent? Thanks!! Brandon |
Re: 59AB early cam ideas Brandon to switch from helmet to crab you need a distributor adapter/ spacer. The early cam is longer.

Re: 59AB early cam ideas To switch to an aftermarket cam in a relatively stock engine is quite expensive, and any cam you choose will reduce low end torque. Your best bet would be to increase compression. Any cylinder head you choose, stock or aftermarket can be angle milled over the valves to leave .050" clearance. Usually around .070/.080, now this stock engine will have around 8:1 Cr, bored to 5/16 9:1 all for less money than a cam assy. Using a modified SBC distributor and 2GC carb. Unfortunately, the engine will look like it's perfectly stock. The upside, more power where you need it and fantastic gas mileage/

Re: 59AB early cam ideas Just about any supplier should have the cam buttons.
