49 Mercury Trans Adpater Is there an adapter available to put the small 4 bolt pattern trans to a 49 50 Merc 8 bolt housing-?

Re: 49 Mercury Trans Adpater I believe the stock Ford stamped bellhousing will work with an 8BA eng. Trans pattern used up thru 65 or so. Newc

Re: 49 Mercury Trans Adpater the 49-51 Ford stamped steel , late 51 Mercury cast iron or the 52-53 Ford and Mercury cast iron, will bolt to an 8BA block, make sure you get the correct starter plate for the bellhousing you are going to use

Re: 49 Mercury Trans Adpater A lot depends on the clutch control system you want. Shoe box Fords and 52 thru 53 Fords & Mercury cars have the lever fulcrum type clutch actuator where the late 1951 Mercury cast iron bell has the rotating clutch control like early Fords that use an equalizer set up. The late 51 Merc set up is one year only but they are still out there. Getting one with the bottom cover pan can be difficult but all the cast iron bells used on the cars have the same bottom cover.

That SIR....is a very kind & generous offer....PERIOD! And you're close, but NOT the one he needs in a '49 thru EARLY '51 Merc, because of the clutch pedal method of actuation. This is what he needs, and these things, even PICTURES of these things, are rare! DD https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...8&d=1623268826 |
Re: 49 Mercury Trans Adpater The beauty of the 8BA block is: Everything fits it. Thr bekk housing and starter plate you have now is in hi demand for the early fords.
