Flathead Oil Pan

Would someone on here that knows their oil pans please PM me their E-Mail address so I can send them some pictures of an 8BA oil pan I'm using but have no idea what it came off of. Also how much oil it holds. Thanks. Gary

It is easy to post a photo here. How else are we going to argue over what you have?

Gary.....I know that you DON'T do pictures here on the 'Barn (It's so simple. I'd be happy to send you a VERY concise "step-by-step").

If you would like to e-mail those pics to me, I'll be happy to post 'em here so a 'wider' audience can take a look, if you like. If you want the picture "tutoring", PM me. I've converted three or four previous "NO PICTURE" guys here in the past. Dick D

There is just a button. Looks like a paperclip. Picture of it attached - hope it helps.

V8 Coopman. Thanks for the help. Explain why when someone posts pictures on the Barn nothing shows up and I have no way of seeing them?

Pan looks like in the 8BA family with an unfamiliar (to me) location and angle for the dipstick.

Re: Flathead Oil Pan

That's not an 8BA pan. All 8BA pans had a center sump. I believe it's a 52 - 53 Merc.

Have a '50 Merc. rear sump with the bracket and a '51 rear sump without the bracket.

Re: Flathead Oil Pan

Is this a mystery pan? Are you guys saying it won't fit my 8BA block? It sure looks like it will.

No, it will fit your 8BA block, we are just not in agreement what it came off of.

I'm talking about the one with the windage tray. I believe that is '49 Merc only

Re: Flathead Oil Pan

Right on, DD.

To clarify, Gary you have a late Merc. pan and it will work on an 8BA block.

Question: How many Fordbarners does it take to change an oil pan?
