Any of these Fords ?.
 

Back in the 40/50's my grandad had a small sawmill these are some photos of trucks he used to cart logs. On #3 photo you will see the truck on a fair lean this was on purpose so when the chain clamp was released logs would spill down the hill & onto a couple of skids near the saw bench. As a kid it was always fun to watch.
Is one of these trucks a ford ?.

First one is a '39 Ford. Possibly a '38 because the picture is kind of grainy around the hood ornament and middle of the grille, but pretty sure its a '39

Yea it's hard to say, I lean 39 ford also. There would be an air gap on a 38 hood release/ornament.

This one is a 1938 or 1939 "beer barrel" Ford. The Grilles are different between the two years 38 and 39, but at this angle, it is impossible to tell what year this truck is. The other one in your picture is a Chevrolet.

This truck is a Chevrolet. This style went from 1941 to 1946. Notice the "cut-away" fenders that were popular on these trucks that were used in WW!!

I'm not sure if that is a Chevrolet or not. I don't recall any 41 thru 46 Chevy trucks that had wing vents. I can't see the hood side details well enough to tell about that. Maybe it has to do with where it was manufactured since it has too many details that are similar to discount a GM origin. GM-Holden may have done things differently.

Ex army Chev modified for the desert front during WW2. The cut away guards were for wide sand tyres (on special wide wheels)
These old army trucks were very popular in Aus after the war right up to the 1960s.

Most of the GM-Holden Chevrolet trucks I've seen of that era have the vent windows. There isn't a lot of information out there about them though. This is a good link.

Your not wrong Graham, one time a log rolled down the skids and jumped up a foot and landed on the saw bench. My Dad made up a frame to stop it happening again.

You can tell that those two trucks were likely over their weight limits. The tires aren't far from the bed. Those logs would certainly ruin someone's day if they got in the way.
