If I go on that collector car tour, I'll have no money left for the swap meet. 1500 is a little steep for me as well as 350 for the extra night. I'd love the tour but would prefer to book separate accommodations.

Then book separate accommodations.

Problem solved.

It did not give an option to do so. It's an al inclusive event from what I can see.

You can find cheap motel rooms in Ft. Wayne
if you want to stay extra nights.

That is where I stay - at the Motel 6.

My go-to in Auburn is the Comfort Suites. The Duesenberg crowd comes there every year and they keep the place maintained to the T. The Hampton is second. Neither has great trailer access but a person can cope during congested times!

Full disclosure I've gotta work on Friday morning (yay, mortgage company cheering too, in-person with Auto101 students figuring out righty-tighty).

So if I could bomb out west starting at 1pm (miracle!) I'd be getting there 10ish to tuck into the Comfort Suites to take in day two the next morning.

I've still got some home-front considerations, but it's very tantalizing. Very. It's been a very long cold winter.

I LOVE everything about Auburn, especially the trains that run all night! It just feels like home. Seeing my 'road family' (Josh and the usual suspects) would be very nice.

Supposing I had a co-pilot that wasn't a PITA, that could be fun? Wonder where one of those could be? Is Frank Miller available? He's such a lone wolf!
:D

Re: Early Ford V-8 Museum Swap Meet

The last time I stayed in Fort Wayne, it was in a motel next to a strip joint. (It was late and I was just looking for a place to spend the night.) It was full of truck drivers and hookers and I enjoyed watching them (my "significant other" was not equivalently entertained). I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could find it again.

The next day, the ACD museum and the adjacent American Car and Truck was a much better show.

The only known example of a 1904 Ford Model B
that is largely original will greet you as you enter the museum.

It runs & drives too.

I have transported some spectacular vehicles

That - is what is so great about this swap meet.

The Ford collection that lies just inside
the front door in incredible.

Josh is working hard every day to make it even better.

I agree,,, the Early Ford V-8 museum in Auburn is amazing. Best antique auto museum I ever visited. I was in awe from the minute I walked in the front door. Very well done, very well laid out, very very interesting. And I LOVED the "1936 Ford room"!!!

It is truly like you walked into a Ford dealership when these bad boys were new.
