40 Deluxe Running Boards My 40 Deluxe Coupe has only two bolts per side fixing running board to front fender. The fender has 4 bolt holes in it but the running board only has two. Original fenders and running boards. Is this correct?
A picher would be good. Also I managed to break one of the small spring clips that secures the hood trim at the front side (the smaller of the stainless trims) and they would be unobtainium in Western Australia. Any idea where I might get one in the US? Thanks in advance. |
Re: 40 Deluxe Running Boards The boards on my '40 coupe have 2 bolts to the front fender......only 2 holes in the boards, but 4 in the fender. They are original to my car.......a 40K mile car when I bought it.

Hope this helps. First 3 photos show the bolts holding my 40 DeLuxe driver side running board. Photos 4, 5 and 6 show bolts holding the driver side running board to the rear fender and frame. Last photo taken from inside left rear fender well showing where running board is attached and also my rear jack plate. Insuficient room to take same photo of front. Are the trim clips you're asking about the ones that hold the small stainless "whiskers" to the louvered panels, Part #01A-2001? An old 1970's DRAKE Catalog shows "Wire Clips for trim Moldings set of 8 for $4.00. I'm sure that price is no longer valid. However, C and G Ford Parts has those same clips: https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/ford...mber=01A-20001 I used stainless bolts for running boards, not OEM. The red pieces of angle iron you see are "jack plates" for raising the car without damaging the frame. They bolt thru stock holes in frame (front and back.) and make it a lot easier and safer to jack up he car. |
Re: 40 Deluxe Running Boards Thanks for your replies Gents, much appreciated.
