Old trucks
 

Went out for the day in the 33, to make sure I had fixed the pesky miss ,
I had fixed the misfire,it was a cracked coil.
Stopped at an old gold mine ,that is now being revived and watched the drill rig working, it is Sunday so they must be sure they will strike it Rich.
At the old saw mill, I tooks a few picks of the trucks layed up there from the mills hey days
I hope to get the. engines from two of them.
33 went great, even in the pouring rain on the way home,(220 Klms)

I'd actually love to come over there again. Visited some Town's and cities along the east coast in '64.

Seems just about anything that crawls in OZ is very poisonous . . . even one of the fine "Sheila's" I had the pleasure of meeting on one historical trip. LOL

We were out at the mill a few years back with my Son Hayden, He is a Holden man and there is also a pile of HQ one toners laying around, he walked over to look at one and there was a black snake about 2inches round and twice as wide as the bonnet on the one toner, it was going down through the scuttle vent infront of the w/screen, Hayden froze and could hardly speak, when talking to the mill owner later he told us that the black snake has lived in and around the cars and trucks for 10 or more years.
This is the yard that gave up all the V8 and model A engines a year or so back.
The mill was driven by Model A engines and gearboxes and all the trucks were V8,s.
The 99A engine in our 33 came from here.
John, the location of the mill and village around it would be the same as in 64 so you would feel at home there, we could take you touring around, there are no cross road intersections so we should be right.LOL

Thanks Lawrie...brought back memories of playing on 2 old solid tire chain drive trucks when i was a kid in the 1950s. They sat on a vacant lot on South Bass Isle on Lake Erie.

mfirth, speaking of South Bass Island in the mid 50's, I seem to remember that the taxis were are red convertibles driven by mainly by teenagers. They were on the dock where the ferry boat arrived. What is your memory of this?
