Top left frame rail just behind crossmember in US, also supposed to be on flat spot on top of the rail over the rear differential, and I think approx under the driver's seat, but I have always found them in front and never looked for the others. That is also US, no idea about your side of the globe. If you are on the HAMB too, send a PM Coupe5w36 he's on your side with a '36.

Never seen a 37 but on 32-36 and 39-46 , its somewhere on the left frame rail in front of the firewall.

Anywhere from the crossmember upp close to the firewall.

But it can be very faint, use a knife and scrape carefully.

Re: '37 Ford Chassis No....?????

My 37 coupe and 38 sedan (both rhd) have the number stamped into the chassis on the top in the area of the steering box bracket. My 41 pick-up has the number slightly forward of the front crossmember on the top chassis rail.

You may find there is no number on the Australian chassis. At least I have seen them with no #. Use the body #.

U.S. codes won't help with engine #'s either.

Re: '37 Ford Chassis No....?????

Is there a best way of raising the number on rusty frames?
Sandblasting?
Wire brushing?
Sandpaper?
Chemicals?
Combination?
I was thinking of starting with a wirebrush but there are no signs of the info.

I have a 38 and looking for the least invasive approach.

The cops have ways of finding removed numbers.

Re: '37 Ford Chassis No....?????

My '37 has the number on the chassis on the top rail near the steering box and also on the rear top rail over the axle.

Re: '37 Ford Chassis No....?????

This car would be of Canadain origin...here is the only info I have been able to find on their V8 numbers: http://www.wnyrg.org/canvins.html

I have no information on location, but would be strongly inclined to concentrate the search on the left and then the right forwar frame rails first.
On the engine number...as with US, I believe that would actually be on top of transmission casting bellhousing, and that is the master number.
