Barn & shop total sell off ONE LOT only $$$$$$$

Hi I'll start on the Forums; A lifelong V8er in RG # 85 [Oregon] wants his parts aaalll Gone in one lot. the Cherry-pickers already tried and failed on this stash. I have photos and PM me, but you must be real, to pass the interview. Have cash $$$$$$$, trucks and storage for this lot. Photos will take several threads and may get separated. I managed a sell off like this 15 yrs ago for $40,000 cash, and it took 3 semi trailers- mostly sheet metal. this is mostly mechanical, as his business was rebuilding engines, trans, rear diffs and brakes. Within a few yrs the RELATIVES will get it and it will be gone in a DAY. enjoy Newc

I hate to say this, but "$$$$$$$$" looks like "0000000" to me. It may depend on where it is located.

I'm afraid most guys wanna see the stash of ardun heads, merc cranks, uncracked blocks, '32 specific parts. Even podunk greenhorn guys like me have stacks of stock heads, generators, water pumps, 3 3/4 cranks, stock intake and exhaust manifolds and blocks with a few repairable cracks. I'm afraid every day more stuff is available as time moves on. Fortunately I only paid two grand for my last haul of flatheads and parts. This was a part of my 'retirement' plan......

I see a little bit of myself there, probably a few of you guys too. I've said it before and here we go again, this is one of the major drawbacks of this hobby/lifestyle.
There's racks and cabinets with all sorts of stuff that's worthwhile hanging onto, all stashed away in a system that the guy understands, so he can 'know' where to look for any specific part he may require, which is great; means he doesn't have to source the parts from elsewhere with all the related hassles that involves.
Then, to quote John Lennon 'life is what happens when you're busy making other plans'
Good luck Newc. Please don't take this as an insult.

One of my favorite quotes. Not a John total thought. Nothing is though. Great reference.

Big Mark Twain guy myself.

A few scenarios come to mind:
!. The family says Grandpa was a hoarder. Why did he save all that rusty junk anyway??
2. The family says Grandpa was the smartest man alive. Every last one of those rare parts is worth at least $100 each! How can we cash in?
3. The family says let's take the easy way out. Let's call an auctioneer. The auctioneer comes and says it's not worth my time. Call a scrap dealer!
4. If anyone in the family were an old car guy, the stuff would not be for sale (or maybe there are 2 or 3 old car guys in the family who can't agree on who should get what)!

Fwiw, that '51 is a Big Job, not an F6, so the 337 would be stock.

I’d like to have a stash like that if I was 30 yrs younger. I’m sure the owner of that stuff was a young man when he started collecting. I think it would take a young man, or a few of them to take it over ( think Mike Driscoll). At 61, I think sometimes I won’t get to use the little that I’ve collected. Still it’s very impressive to me, but I live this stuff!!....... Mark

Hmmm, I'm near 80 and tempted to make an offer if the spaniel in the first set of photos comes with the deal. My feeling is my son and son in law will clear my stash when I'm
gone. The challenges and pressures of doing what I do keeps me young (until I look in the mirror) ,YIKES !!! who is that old faarrt.

Personally, I think the days of buying someones stash of run of the mill, common mechanical parts are fading away. Folks just don't have the space or are too old to start hoarding.

Vendors who specialize in certain old car parts may be interested but, not for BIG money.

You hit the nail on the head of what I was thinking, just more efficiently than I would have said. AS some one else eloquently posted as well, I (Or Mike at Third Gen) would love to have that "stash" of parts just to be able to keep what interest there will be in the future for V8's alive. BUT for me, and the general state of economics for younger families these days (like me) the available "extra" positive cash flows are not available for such a purchase, it all goes to "daily living", Like for me, The University of Florida.

The owner of this stuff should sell the vehicles separately, as there will be
any number of people willing to buy them, but Not interested in all the parts. ;)
