1939 Ford pickup bed wood Does anyone have the measurements for the wood that goes on top of the frame and under the bed. Mine were toast and I would like to fabricate the wood mounts for front and back of the bed. I have the 1/2 ton.
I did a search and did not turn up anything. Thanks for any info. |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood I will look through my slips and directions from Northern Classic where I ordered my bed and wood kit from, it was sad to see them close up shop several years ago.
I will be tinkering on the T this weekend and could do some measurements as well if you need. Scott |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood thanks Scott, any measurements you could provide will be helpful.
Thanks, Ken |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood If you aren't going for points at a show, I did those parts with steel on my tonner (and that's from a career woodworker). At the axle hump on the frame, I thought the wood got pretty weak when milled with the angle. I used rectangular tubing flat ways with a wedge under the low side. 1/4" wall tubing is still pretty strong laid flat.

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood GB it is highly unlikely it will ever be entered in a show that judges while I own it. I was looking at the subframe that the boards in the bed screw down to yesterday evening and it is toast also will have to fabricate new one. Are they other year models of subframe that is the same or close to 39?

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood Are you looking for info on the wood sub frame that is used under a (not stock) wood bed floor?
|
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood 38Bill, I'm looking for the wood spacers that go under a stock bed. I'm calling the hat channel metal frame that the wood bed planks screws down to a subframe for lack of knowing what its real name is. I want to make my own wood blocks that go from the frame up to the bed that keeps it level.

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood Try cmwtrucks.com
They advertise 38-41 Ford pickup truck bed mount wood kit for $115. |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood Thanks swoopNZ, I'm looking for the measurements to make my own.
Thanks, |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood 1 Attachment(s)
Sounds like your looking for info on the box to frame mounting blocks like in the photo? I didn't make drawings of mine but I think I can get measurements for you if that's what you need.
(Are you using the stock metal box floor?) |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood 38bill,
That is exactly what I am looking for measurements for both front and back wood blocks for stock bed. That picture helps a lot I can fabricate the rear one is the front one behind the cab the same? |
Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood 1 Attachment(s)
That's the rear block here is the front. My truck is parked on my drive up ramp/lift if you want me to get some better measurements.

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood Thanks 38bill, no need for further measurements I got it from the two pictures. I really appreciate you sending the pictures. I'm off to the lumber yard.

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood If you run into any problems and need measurements just send me a pm.

Re: 1939 Ford pickup bed wood Do you have photos or measurements of the wood blocks that go around the wheel well openings on my 39 pickup? I've found the front and rear supports just nothing on the side pieces.
