1930 Below Deck Panel Removal/Replacement

The below deck panel on my 30 Coupe is cracked & splitting along the bottom and needs to be replaced. Alothough when I am underneith I can see at least 3 bolts on the right/left flanges, I am sure there are others. For removal of the panel, does the rumble seat lid and curved panel need top be removed first? Just want to be sure so that I don't start unnecessarily removing stuff. If I do need to remove these components, is there anything I nned to be aware of? Appreciate the guidance. Steve

That’s a real bear to get out
The curved inner panel has to come it
Then there are screws that attach it to the
Rear lower cross member.
Then bolts that go into the panel on both sides
The main support that the upper bolt of the rear spare bracket is riveted to the lower crossmember too
Then the top of the panel in question is crimped to the upper edge of the inner supper
Quite an undertaking ......

Cracks can be welded if they are accessible. The spare tire mount puts a good load on that area plus any past rear end collision could be a cause. If the panel is an original part and otherwise in good condition, I would certainly try a repair rather than replace it with a repop part.

Thanks for the feedback. I had a feeling there was more to this than what meets the eye. I have read about the form and fit of the reproduction replacements. Will look into possible weld repairs,
