Autolite 216 Question

I picked up some new Autolite 216 spark plugs yesterday from NAPA. The only reason I had ordered these was I had read somewhere that they were black. Turns out they have the clear zinc finish. Did I imagine reading that they were black? NAPA was willing to take them back, but I said what the hell, I’ll keep them. Just curious.

I think the AC Delco plugs usually have the black oxide finish. Jack E/NJ

They changed the finish on the 216's about a year ago.
Yes they were a dark gray color initially.

Ok. Great to know. Thought perhaps I was going crazy. No big deal.

Found this pic on the Speedway site. It still shows the black coloured style Autolite 216. Price I paid at NAPA here in Canada was actually cheaper!
Also, I found that searching the Champion site for 1946 Ford 1 ton, Champion lists two part numbers: 844 and 854. I found the original Champion spark plugs that were in the engine, and there are identified as H11. A search of the Champion 844 brings me back to a Sppedway site listing for Champion H10C. Further research seems to indicate they no longer make the H11. What is interesting is that the H10C has a heat range of 10, and the Autolite 216 has a heat range of 6. That seems like a big difference - no?

Damn. What is the issue with uploading pics. Now pic is only 7.6 kB. All my other uploaded pics are at least 10x bigger.
