Re: flathead engine cradle Yes, rotating while it's in the cradle. Seems I remember a pic where there was a circle, or semi circle on each end that it rotated on.

Re: flathead engine cradle i make em to mount on the exhaust flange's, like the motor rebuild stand, but two with wheels. pics tomorrow, its dark and i get scared out in the barn

Re: flathead engine cradle opps, wrong stand. why support on both ends instead of the side?
|
Re: flathead engine cradle 1 Attachment(s)
I believe this is the style I was searching for

Re: flathead engine cradle 1 Attachment(s)
Why not support it on both ends?

Re: flathead engine cradle I think you are looking for the Clayborn type stand. Have a couple BUT not the adapters for each end. Just have one set of the adapters which I had copied from originals. sorry I can not give more info or pictures . kerk

Re: flathead engine cradle I have 3 of them Claybourne stands...love them.
You can install the camshaft with it attached thats why it has a large hole in one end. You can easily throw the boringbar on it won´t break a sweat.. Beats a sidemount any day ! |
Re: flathead engine cradle 1 Attachment(s)
Here's an image from Ford Field Magazine.

Re: flathead engine cradle Yes, that the one. Thanks for the input!

Re: flathead engine cradle 2 Attachment(s)
Here's a couple of photos of the end pieces.

Re: flathead engine cradle Great stand , I have the stand but need the 2 end pieces that Don has pictured above. I believe my Clayborne stand my have come from Don.
If anyone has the two ends pictured above & would part with them I would be very interested. Thanks Cheers Tony |
Re: flathead engine cradle I want a Clayborne as well. I think more than a KR Wilson. The Clayborne also you to port both sides.
|
Re: flathead engine cradle Thanks, I learned something today and if I ever see a Clayborne engine stand at a swap meet I will know what I am looking at and will treat it with respect. Time to go get the pizza.

Re: flathead engine cradle If these are not being currently made, I bet Stumpy's Fab works would make these up if some one gave him the specs or a sample
|
Re: flathead engine cradle They are not that easy to copy if you want an accurate copy since some pieces are cast.
A modern version with CNC machined part will not be very cheap either sadly. |
Re: flathead engine cradle I wouldn't think they would be too hard to fabricate, would they? A 2" slice off a 6" (or so) steel pipe and some 1/4" X 2" steel strap and you're well on your way to making the first (circular) part. A piece of the proper sized tubing, a steel plate, and some proper sized bolts and you have the second. Granted, it would take some cutting and welding, but if I had the stand without those parts, I would be at the steel supply shop this afternoon, digging through the "Drops" bin.

Re: flathead engine cradle I nhave the stands so if anyone has the end pieces I would be interested. I would swap the stand for the end pieces !! kerk

Re: flathead engine cradle 1 Attachment(s)
I ran across this stand, had the Clayborne tag on it, but not sure of application. For sure not flathead.
