The Ron Rude A1276 Light Delivery was delivered to the Model A Ford Museum yesterday. It is beautiful and a great addition to the collection. Thanks to the Rude family for their generous donation to the Model A Ford Foundation, Inc. Hopefully many of you can get a chance to see this truck at the Museum in the near future.

My Dad would so very happy knowing the car is in a wonderful place and will be taken care of. This car was his pride and joy.

Could someone post a few pics of the early features? I know there are the obvious square starter switch and red steering wheel but what about a few other not-so-obvious items?

Ron was always so helpful and courteous to those of us asking his advice on the Early Birds!

What a tribute to Ron, Ron's family and the car. He was so connected to that car that
I'm sure he knows exactly where it is.

Kudos

Ron Rude was one of the nicest and most knowledgeable men in the hobby. He had hoped that his truck would end up in the Smithsonian. I believe that this is a much better option. I am sure that he would approve.

The story behind the truck is amazing. One of the earliest Model A trucks that was originally owned by the railroad in Northern California. Ron had an exact copy made of the wooden body and reused the Model T rear fenders that came with the truck originally. The body was not made by Ford so that is why they were able to use non "A" fenders.

The chassis had some really early Model A features. Guess you would expect that from a vehicle with an A1276 VIN.

What a great looking truck. I have a chassis ready to do something with and sure would like to know if anyone has the wood plans to build this.

Beautiful truck, and a generous donation indeed. It is at a place where many will be able to enjoy it for a long time. I assume this is in the Gilmore. I have only been there once, but plan on making it back there in the near future. Def. a better venue than the Smithsonian!

Just to add my two bits.. There is a little of Ron in all my A's. He was always there with advise and help to all. It was a joy to watch him build this buggy over the years, Delighted to see it end up in the Gilmore Museum.. Quincy Ca. certainly isn't the same since his passing.
