Coupe leg room

OK, I just got my '30 coupe home. I'm 6'3" / 77 years old and getting my feet on the pedals is a challenge. (It wasn't so bad when I drove Model As in the 50s and 60s!) There is a small package shelf behind the seat which suggests that the seat could actually be moved back a little if the shelf was removed. Has anyone done this? Thoughts?
Thanks

The farthest back the seat will go is when the adjustment knob is screwed completely clockwise, where at that point it's against the back wall panel. Mid-30 the steering wheel was raised for a bit more leg room, but that's the best they could do.

That is the reason that I bought a Tudor. Easy to move the drivers seat back a few inches. I love the looks of a roadster, but absolutely couldn't get my feet into the drivers side. Actually, a coupe I could manage, but it still wasn't easy. Driving my Tudor the other day, I just realized that I can't get my foot on the brake pedal if I am in low gear. People were smaller 100 years ago. I know I was 50 years ago. lol

I have modified seats on both my ’28 models.
The pickup I had a biscuit back made from fairly high density foam, it is about 3 inches thick. This allows me to sit further back. I slid the squab rearwards which gave me more space to climb in and out. Much more comfortable. I am 5 10 in height.
The Phaeton I had one row of springs removed from the squab which allows me to enter and exit a bit easier. One day I will remove the back and replace the back springs with foam which will allow me to sit further from the steering wheel. It will not be as easy as the pickup because the back is curved into the sides of the cab.

I took the seat out of my 30 coupe, trimmed 2 inches off the parcel shelf, moved the adjustment bracket forward 2 inches and replaced the seat very comfy now.

Tanglfoot - just the strategy I was thinking of! Any pictures? Thanks!

I’m 6’5”, 71 years old. Getting in and out of our 1929 Sport Couple can really be a problem.

Seat does not adjust. Once in, it’s still as much fun as it was when I was just a young guy.

I do think people were smaller back in the day. I fit in our SUV just fine.
