Driver side door lock Hello, I have a 1930 Model A closed cab pickup I want to add the sliding type door lock to the drivers side door. I have the sliding lock unit on order but can't cannot clearly see how or where exactly it gets installed.
Thanks -Tom |
Re: Driver side door lock I have a '31 Sport Coupe, but I suspect it is probably the same.
It should be positioned so when locked it will stop the rod from the handle to the latch from moving down (I think). If you look at how that rod works, it will make more sense. Mine did not have the lock when I got it, but there may be holes already there to mount the lock... I do not recall having to drill holes anyway. |

Re: Driver side door lock It was missing on my '31 CCPU. Just remove the door panel, slip the lock into place and install the two screws. Pretty simple installation. Then you'll need to cut a hole in the door panel and put on the escutcheon and knob. The idea was the driver should not get out of the traffic side so he would lock the drivers door slide across the seat and get out on the passages side. Then lock the passages door from the outside door handle.
