How old is your engine? I would never push a Babbit engine this fast so I would suggest an inserted motor. And an overdrive would be a must if you want to substain those speeds for long periods of time. I would also put the 16" wheels on so that you have a better grip on the road, and it'll help you stop faster. You also will need some good brakes. The normal model a can not go 65-75 for long periods of time. This would allow you to go 65-75 as safe as possible in a model a.

There are several options that I have seen so far. One is changing the ring and pinion in the rear end. Being that your model is a truck I do not know if you intend to pull a trailer or haul anything with it so I am not sure if this option is best. Another option is an overdrive which is good but also has the same downfall as changing the rear gears. You could upgrade the engine by installing higher performance parts such as a new cam, crank, oversize pistons, overhead valve head, downdraft carb or carbs, and headers. All of this though would cost a pretty penny and would make your model a less original even though some of these parts I mentioned were in fact available at the time. Personally I would go with installing a new balanced and dampened crank about $900 and a better cam another $100 then steel valves and a high compression head. All this can be done without changing the appearance of the engine but giving it much more power. then change the rear gears and you then have a stock looking model a that will keep up with modern traffic.
