1937 Ford Pickup Grill Shell
 

I have a 1937 pickup that I bought apart. How does the grill shell attach to the fenders? What brackets or splash shield are missing/needed? Does anyone have a picture or exploded view? 1935-37 seem to be the same, I believe. Any help would be appreciated.

It has been many years since I restored a '37 pickup, like 1964-65, still have some of the left over parts.
The grille shell attaches to the front fenders at the very bottom, three bolts on each side as I recall. I recall a tab on the side of the radiator, at about the mid point that attached to the radiator support and two screws at the top that attached to the radiator.. Two quarter inch rods then attached to the top of the radiator, extending to the firewall. The grille shell attachment on the '37 is similar to the '35-36, however it is different because the shell is more massive with the grille being a part of the shell.
I still have a very nice '37 radiator, rear window molding and I believe I have some instruments.

The 37 pickup has the two engine splash pans that go inside the engine compartment. There is a pan that looks much like half of a bivalve shell much like the Shell Oil sign that goes into the bottom of the grill and extends backwards toward the front cross member. There are bolt holes in the bottom of the grill shell that it bolts to and the rear bolts to two small brackets. The 37 pickup under grill pan is not the same as the 36 pickup and is not the same as the one for a 1 1/2 ton truck for either 36 or 37. The 35 pickup did not have an under grill pan extending into the bottom of the grill. There is also an inner grill panel that is unique to the 37 model year pickup and that particular panel interchanges with the 37 truck from what I remember. The below grill pans for the 36 and the 37 are hard to come by in my experience. They were good for collecting debris and rusting out and it had to come off to access the bottom radiator hoses so some people probably did not put them back on. I have one of the 37 pickup ones hanging on the wall in my shop because I haven't put it on my pickup yet but I do not have any way of taking a picture and posting it at the moment. So, I believe there is a below grill pan, an inner grill piece, and the two small mounting brackets for the below grill pan. There are two small brackets that are not on the picture LBs 37V8 shows of his grill. Those brackets are what the hood sides latch onto and you can see in the picture where the bracket goes as well as the hole in the radiator frame that shows where it attaches to the radiator frame as well. The hood will not latch without those brackets.

I have a friend in Idaho that has a '37 Ford 1/2 ton stake bed that is almost identical to the one shown in your avatar. My friends truck is completely restored, altho it does have an 8BA engine. The bed on my friends truck is an original Ford script bed.

May be way late on this: my understanding for '37s is the inner fender panels are to be body color as a small approximate triangle area just rearward of the grill is visible. Any one else? Not sure if this holds for '35 and '36 but the same fender and inner fender are in use.

raybee...You are correct. The 35/6 are not the same length and are not the same shape in the front as the 37. In 1937 there was what I suspect are an early and a late for the passenger side. At some point Ford added a drain hole when the battery was relocated to the firewall for model year 1937. I have had passenger side inner fender panels both with and without the drain hole and no, the hole was not filled.
