1937 Ford Coupe

Does anyone have a good picture of how the hood rod (the flat rod that holds the hood open when extended in the latched position) attaches to the hood on an early '37 Coupe?
Post or e-mail if you have something. [email protected].
THANKS.

Leave it off - save yourself some grief later down the track.

I use a broom handle cut to length on my 37s and 39std.

After it is installed be careful who gets near your open hood. Must people want to push the hood down without lifting it up first and most hoods show the results of this.

Here is a larger picture of the original mechanism to keep the Hood open on 1937 Fords. While it works well, damage can occur when a novice tries to close the Hood. The same setup was on the 1938 Fords, but ford modified it on the 1939 Ford Standard models. The modification was a much better idea, and prevented damage to the Hood.

Here is another solution for holding up Hoods on 1937 and 1938 Fords. This prop is hinged and when lowered, it clamps to the Radiator Support Rod.

Will the 39 system work on a 37 hood?

These ratchet brackets are the reason most 37/38 hoods are buckled it that area!

This is the Hood mechanism on a 1939 Ford Standard. It is only on one side like the 37 and 38 models. I am sure that you could fit it to the 38 models and possibly the 37 models. I hope that this picture helps.
