Installing door glass in '40 pickup

This is also posted in Jalopy Journal...........

Looking for some advice. I'm trying to install the door windows in my '40 Ford pickup.
I have the regulator installed in the door already.
However, should I install the window in the tracks of the regulator before I try to install it inside the door?
Right now, since there is no weight on the window tracks, the window won't stay down. The spring pushes the track up to the top. I had the window inside the door but the opening is so small I could barely get my hands inside to lift it up on the track.
If anyone has pictures, that would be ideal.
Thanks

Re: Installing door glass in '40 pickup

I found this task to be a pain in the butt.

I allowed the regulator to lay in the bottom of the door while I fed the glass in through the top. Once within the door I was able to place the glass in its proper horizontal position , lower it a bit to engage the regulator and last but not least, raise the entire 'assembly" and attach it to the door.
There may very well be other ways to do this task but this is what worked the best for me.
Oh, two guys make it a lot easier....

This really helped me to install the driver's window in my '37 Fordor.

I hope that this can help you as much as it did for me.

Thanks Kube. I will give that a try.
I watched the youtube Robert provided. Thank you.
The only difference is I have about a 12X12 opening in my '40 door and the video shows a door with a huge opening.
Getting my huge mitts in the 12X12 opening is a bugger.

Yep, a "bugger" for sure. It's jobs like this that make me wonder how Ford did it rapidly on the assembly line. Sure, a guy gets better after he does a thousand of them but how about the first 500 or so???
