Piston Rings

I have a 39 91A that Im rebuilding and looking for a set of rings 4 ring domed piston .0825 oversize - stamped on piston crown (3 1/16 bore std) The pistons are marked and are Ford branded, no problem getting 80 over but would no doubt be undersized by 12 thou on a worn bore at least (4-6 thou wear) The only ones I can find are early tractor ring sets but they are 3 & 3/16 bore. Otherwise do these 24 stud 3&1/16 blocks go out more than 80 or sleeve? Any help appreciated Cheers Scottie

Re: Piston Rings

The typical use for the .0825 pistons was in sleeved blocks when the sleeves were removed. Both the 3 1/16 and the 3 3/16 bore engines had the .0825 oversize available.

Better do some wall thickness investigating, however, several 3 1/16 engines have been taken to 3 3/16.

Re: Piston Rings

Sleeves can be installed but the tin can types are no longer available. This would require standard thick wall sleeves but the cost could be up there these days. It used to be around $100 per bore to machine & install for sleeves but it may be higher now.
