36 pickup column drop attachment

I did a quick search but didn't see this answered..

Inside the dash where the column drop bolts go through, is there a separate reinforcing plate to install before I put the bolts in?

Just trying to secure the column to get ready for a tow.

I believe there is just the rubber pad there. No extra bracing,

Many thanks, you've always been a helpful resource to a fellow '36 owner :D

I believe one of my 35 passenger cars had a sheet metal reinforcing plate on the ledge under the dash where the two steering drop bolts fasten and also a rubber pad between the bottom of the dash and the drop mount. Don't know if the pickup's were the same or similar. Maybe others more knowledgeable will chime in.

Should have a reinforcing plate spot welded to the lip of the dash.

The dash is two layers there. I put large flat washers and lock washers under the bolt heads.
